Virgin Hyperloop One partners with DP World to launch ultra-fast hyperloop cargo system
In a recent announcement, Virgin Hyperloop One has disclosed that it has partnered with DP World for launching a new ultra-fast hyperloop cargo system with worldwide ambitions. The new hyperloop cargo system is called ‘DP World Cargospeed.’
Virgin Hyperloop One is a company involved in the development of hyperloop technology for transportation. The company was earlier known as Hyperloop One, before securing a new investment from Richard Branson’s Virgin.
DP World is one of the major port operators in the world; and has, for the past several years, been a supporter of the development of hyperloop systems via Hyperloop One. The company has also invested in a number of funding rounds of Hyperloop One.
With regard to the partnership for the launch of a new hyperloop system for cargo, Virgin Hyperloop One said that the move is aimed at combining the company’s hyperloop technology with DP World’s proficiency in port operations, for the purpose of ensuring high-speed, low-cost transportation of goods between cities.
Asserting that the DP World Cargospeed hyperloop system will be able to deliver freight “at the speed of flight and closer to the cost of trucking,” Rob Lloyd, from Virgin Hyperloop One, said that the system underscores “an international brand for hyperloop-enabled cargo systems to support the fast, sustainable and efficient delivery of palletized cargo.”
