Tesla has reportedly received over 30,000 requests for Model 3 Performance test drives

According to a recent electric vehicle magazine Electrek report, based on the information shared by an unidentified source, more than 30,000 requests have been received by US electric vehicle maker Tesla Motors for test drives of its Model 3 electric car.

The disclosure by the source comes in coincidence with recent reports which have revealed that Tesla Motors is moving away from its Model 3 ‘anti-selling’ strategy, and is incentivizing its sales staff on the sale of the Model 3 Performance version.

Tesla has also expanded the Performance version’s fleet for test drives in an evident effort to enable more people to test drive the car. With Tesla CEO Elon Musk having confirmed that 100 Performance Model 3 units have been built by Tesla for test drives, the unidentified Electrek source has revealed that most of the people who have requested Model 3 test drives will likely get chance to drive the Performance version.

The apparent objective behind the expanded Model 3 test drive program is to help the noncommittal reservation holders to place their orders for the vehicle.

Prior to the broader launch of Model 3 test drives, Tesla had commenced a pilot program under which test drives were given to reservation holders in the Bay Area. As per the Electrek source, the first week of the program had Tesla completing a total of 497 test drives between four stores.
