Sales of plug-in electric vehicles surged in US during July 2018
According to a recent report, there was a notable increase in the sales of plug-in electric vehicles in the US in July 2018. The report is based on the July sales figures for plug-in electric vehicles revealed by automakers as well as some estimates.
The total number of plug-in electric vehicles sold in the US in July 2018 reportedly surged to 29,514 units, as compared to just 15,540 units in July 2017. It is also estimated that 153,666 plug-in electric vehicles have been delivered through the end of July 2018.
With the sales of plug-in electric vehicles in the US in June 2018 recorded at 25,019 units, it is apparent that the 29,514 plug-in electric vehicles sold in July 2018 made it the ‘best month ever’, by far, in terms of plug-in electric vehicle sales.
Going by the July 2018 figures, the top-selling electric vehicle during the month was Tesla Model 3, which reportedly accounted for nearly 50% of all EV sales in the country for the reporting month.
The second and third best-selling EVs in July 2018 were the Toyota Prius Prime and the Chevrolet Volt respectively. The other EV on the chart included the Chevrolet Bolt, the Honda Clarity PHEV and the Nissan LEAF.
The leading manufacturers of plug-in electric vehicles, as per the July 2018 figures, were Tesla, General Motors, Toyota, BMW Group, Honda, and Nissan.
