Porsche: Mission E production version will be called ‘Taycan’
German automaker Porsche has revealed in a recent announcement that the production version of its first all-electric vehicle will be called the ‘Taycan.’ Thus far, the automaker has been calling its first all-electric vehicle as ‘Mission E’, ever since the official unveiling of the concept in 2015.
The announcement that the production version of Mission E will be called Taycan was made by Porsche recently at the Porsche Museum, during the opening ceremony of the ‘70 years of the Porsche sports car’ special exhibition.
The move by Porsche to name the production version of its Mission E all-electric vehicle as Taycan is noteworthy, even though it was already assumed that the name of the vehicle’s production version will apparently be in accordance with the automaker’s present naming scheme for its vehicles.
At the special exhibition being held at the Porsche Museum, the Mission E concept vehicle is a significant part of the show. Porsche is presenting the vehicle as the “the future of the sports car.”
With regard to the special exhibition and Mission E’s important part in it, Porsche said in its recent announcement that “the special exhibition will be accompanied by interactive experiences,” including an augmented reality (AR) application for the Mission E.
