Mercedes-Benz unveils ‘Vision EQ Silver Arrow’ --- prototype of all-electric race car
At the Monterey Car Week industry event held at Pebble Beach in California, German automaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new, one-seater all-electric race car prototype --- the ‘Vision EQ Silver Arrow.’
The unveiling of the Vision EQ Silver Arrow concept electric vehicle by Mercedes-Benz underscores an evident peek at the future products to be launched by the automaker under its new ‘EQ’ electric-vehicle branding.
According to the details revealed by Mercedes-Benz, the Vision EQ Silver Arrow all-electric race car prototype draws inspiration from the automaker’s record-breaking W 125 car from the year 1937. The framework of the prototype is made of carbon fibre, with several layers of “alubeam silver” paint to give it the appearance of liquid metal over the top.
About the powertrain of the Vision EQ Silver Arrow, Mercedes-Benz said that the electric motors of the vehicle are capable of delivering a total output of 550 kW (750 hp). The automaker also added that the vehicle will be powered by a “thin rechargeable battery in the underbody.”
Describing the Vision EQ Silver Arrow show car as an electric vehicle which highlights the “design idiom” of Mercedes-Benz’s new EQ product and technology brand, Gorden Wagener -- Daimler AG’s Chief Design Officer -- said at the unveiling event that the vehicle “embodies progressive luxury” and is “intended for acceleration and driving pleasure.”
