March 2018 was a record month for EV sales in France
Electric car sales in France recorded a notable year-on-year increase during the month of March; with the results highlighting a kind of ‘March Madness’ in the electric-vehicle (EV) market in the country. Norway has been leading electric vehicle revolution in Western Europe.
The registrations of plug-in cars in France in March 2018 touched a record-high of 5,402 units, thus underscoring a 41% year-on-year increase over the registration figures for the same month last year. The share of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) in the reporting month increased to 2%, which also indicated an increase over the figures for March 2017.
Overall, with all plug-in drivetrains (plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars) taken collectively, the plug-in market recorded a year-on-year increase of 17% in March 2018, by reaching up to a total of 10,892 units.
In terms of deliveries of electric cars in France in March 2018, all the four top-selling EV models in the country reported record numbers for the month.
In specific numbers, 2012-launched Renault BEV Zoe reported its best-ever result in the March 2018 by scoring a top-ranking number of 2,245 deliveries; followed by Nissan LEAF in the second place with its record best of 719 deliveries. The BMW i3 ranked third with its best-ever result of 319 deliveries, whereas Tesla Model S ranked fourth with a record result of 162 deliveries.
