Kia will unveil production version of new all-electric Niro CUV at Busan Motor Show
At the 2018 Busan International Motor Show in Korea, Kia Motors is set to unveil the production version of its new all-electric vehicle, the Niro CUV. The South Korean automaker had revealed the all-electric Niro concept earlier in 2018.
The powertrain of the production version of the Niro EV being unveiled by Kia is apparently the same as the powertrain of the electric version of Kona, which is produced by Kia’s parent company Hyundai.
According to the information shared by Kia with regard to the availability of its Niro EV, the vehicle is scheduled to hit the Korea markets “during the second half of 2018.” Kia also said that it will make the vehicle available in Europe and other markets “in due course.”
Kia has been claiming that the Niro EV will boast “a high-capacity 64 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack,” and a front wheel drive 150 kW (204 ps) motor. The vehicle will be able to offer a range of “450 kilometres (280 miles)” on a single charge; and will take barely 7.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph.
Moreover, Kia has also revealed that a less expensive model of the Niro EV will also be available, equipped with a “39.2 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack”, offering a range of 300 km (186 miles).
