Groupe PSA to create new ‘Low Emission Vehicles Business Unit’
According to an announcement by the executives at Groupe PSA, the company has plans underway for a new business unit -- to be called the ‘Low Emission Vehicles Business Unit’ -- which will focus on the development and launch of plug-in electric vehicles.
The announcement hints at an evident inclination towards plug-in vehicles by Groupe PSA, a company which is the parent of Peugeot, and owns Citroën, Opel and Vauxhall brands.
In revealing PSA’s plans to create a ‘Low Emission Vehicles Business Unit’, company executives said that the move is aimed at the potential introduction of zero-emissions alternatives across the company’s models by the year 2025.
With regard to the new business unit, PSA has disclosed on its website that the unit will make a start in 2019. The workforce at the unit will shoulder the responsibility of “defining and deploying the group’s electric vehicle strategy and rolling out the related products and services.”
The announcement by PSA also revealed that the Senior Vice President of the company’s new business unit will be Alexandre Guignard, who will report to the Linda Jackson, the CEO of Citroën.
About PSA’s new business unit, Jackson said that the challenge for the unit will be to satisfy the company’s customers by providing “the best vehicles at the best time,” as well as to ensure “the best economic conditions for launching Groupe PSA’s electric vehicles into the market.”
