First shipment of Hyundai Kona Electric CUV arrives in Norway
South Korean automaker Hyundai has delivered the first shipment of its Kona Electric CUV for the customers of the long-range electric vehicle (EV) in Norway this week.
The move marks the delivery of the first units of Kona Electric CUV outside the automaker’s home market. Hyundai has already claimed that it has bagged more than 20,000 reservations for its new all-electric CUV from customers across the world. Hyundai Kona generated strong consumer interest due to its impressive features and aggressive price tag compared to other electric vehicles.
The arrival of the Kona Electric boatload in Norway substantiates last-month reports which had revealed that the first 2,000 units of the all-electric CUV have been produced by Hyundai. The reports said that the first 1,000 units of the Kona Electric have been shipped out for exports, with the remaining units to be delivered to South Korean customers.
The first boatload of Kona Electric for Norway customers arrived at Drammen Harbor this week, consisting of slightly more than 100 units of the EV. Hyundai has said that it would be exporting “hundreds of cars” to the country in other boats with effect from “mid August.”
Meanwhile, drawing attention to the fact that the Kona Electric CUV has “much demand” in Norway, Oyvind Lillestrom Knudsen -- Product manager at Hyundai Motor Norway -- said that the Kona Electric is “the first electric car with a sensible price tag that offers both tremendously long range, full range of active safety and a complete multimedia package.”
