Elon Musk hints that Q2 Model 3 deliveries will prove detractors wrong
With Tesla Motors likely to disclose the total number of Model 3 deliveries for the April-June 2018 quarter next week, CEO Elon Musk has hinted in a recent internal mail to employees that the figures will apparently be fairly high.
Musk’s hint to Tesla employees is evidently based on the fact that he has a good idea of the total Model 3 units which the automaker has been delivering during the quarter, which end this Saturday.
Musk has specifically said in the internal mail to employees that Tesla bears -- people who are projecting that Tesla’s Model 3 delivery figures for the second quarter will be disappointing -- are about to get “a rude awakening.” Tesla stock has faced selling pressure many times as investors questioned Tesla’s ability to deliver electric cars as per consumer demand.
In the internal mail to Tesla employees, Musk has shared a CNBC article about Goldman Sachs analyst David Tamberrino’s note to clients, predicting that nearly 22,000 units of Model 3 vehicles will be delivered by Tesla during the April-June quarter.
However, with Tesla getting closer to its targeted Model 3 production rate of 5,000 units per week by the end of the quarter, Musk has lately become increasingly confident that the company will prove its detractors wrong by reporting a higher-than-expected number of total quarterly deliveries of the vehicle.
