BYD Auto to offer Electric Buses and Trucks in the Philippines market
Shenzhen-based BYD Auto has signed an agreement with Philippines-based Columbian Motors Corporation (CMC) for export of electric buses and trucks. BYD Auto is leading electric vehicle revolution in China and the company has witnessed strong growth in commercial and passenger vehicle segment in the recent years. With Chinese government push for green vehicles, BYD Auto is investing heavily in improving vehicle range and other features offered by its electric vehicles.
BYD Auto will deliver 10 BYD K9s and 12 BYD T4s to CMC by mid-February 2018 to CMC for Philippines market. “Air pollution and traffic congestion are twin problems many cities around the world are faced with,” said Liu Xueliang, General Manager for BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division. “We are very excited to bring more of our solutions to the Philippines to create a cleaner living environment for everyone.”
In October 2016, BYD reached a major milestone of selling the highest number of electric vehicles till date. The company is leading in the Chinese market and has planned expansion in other markets. With its improved production capability, BYD aims to achieve strong growth in upcoming quarters.
The company started export of its cars to Africa, South America, and the Middle East in year 2009. BYD Auto has received positive response for its latest model, BYD e6. The car offers 186-mile range in single charge.
As per company data, the BYD Tang plug-in hybrid SUV was the top selling plug-in car with 31,405 units delivered, followed by the BYD Qin (21,868), and the BYD e6 (20,605).
