BMW teases with few details about forthcoming iX3 all-electric SUV
Ahead of the official unveiling of the iX3 all-electric SUV at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show next week, BMW has teased the forthcoming vehicle for the first time. The vehicle is scheduled to hit the markets by 2020.
BMW iX3 SUV is the first all-electric vehicle to be launched by the automaker since the 2013 launch of the BMW i3. Although the details of the iX3 SUV are not fully known as of now, it is being projected that the vehicle will be a long-range all-electric SUV, with its size and design comparable with the BMW X3.
With its forthcoming iX3 SUV, BMW will explicitly compete with rivals Audi and Jaguar in the popular mid-size utility vehicle market. More specifically, the BMW iX3 SUV will take on the Audi E-Tron Quattro and the Jaguar I-Pace in the mentioned segment.
In announcing the imminent launch of the iX3 SUV, as well as a series of other electric vehicles, BMW Chief Executive Harald Krüger had said in March that during the course of the year, BMW will present “a number of pure-electric concept vehicles that will all go into series production.”
Krüger had further specified that the pure-electric concept vehicles to be presented by BMW in 2018 will include the BMW iX3, the BMW iNEXT, and the captivating BMW i Vision Dynamics (announced in Geneva last month as the BMW i4).
