Ather Energy has launched two new electric scooters --- Ather 340 and Ather 450
At a glitzy unveiling event held this week, two new electric scooters were launched by Bangalore, India-based Ather Energy. The launch of the two new electric scooters -- Ather 340 and Ather 450 -- by Ather Energy has come two years after being under development.
The new Ather 340 electric scooter is an entry-level model launched by Ather Energy, whereas as the new Ather 450 marks a ‘higher power and higher speed’ model of the electric scooter. The physical appearance of both the scooters is identical.
Ather Energy wheeled out the Ather 340 electric scooter onstage recently in Bangalore, after teasing the vehicle for several months. The scooter is equipped with a 5 kW (6.7 hp) brushless DC motor, and has a top-speed rating of 72 km/h (45 mph). It can offer 60 km (37 miles) of range on a single charge.
The Ather 450 electric scooter is a bigger model which is equipped with a more powerful 5.4 kW brushless DC motor and probably a higher current controller. It has a top speed of 80 km/h (50 mph), and can offer a range of 75 km (47 miles) on a single charge.
Ather Energy has opened the pre-orders for both its new electric scooters in Bangalore, with deliveries scheduled to start in August 2018. The cost of Ather 340 is $1,490, while the Ather 450 is priced at $1,860.
